Guided Discovery

Our first week of Kindergarten at Northview Elementary School was very busy!  We had so many new things to learn.  We spent some time outside learning about the new playground equipment and our recess procedures and rules.  We were really happy to finally get a sunny day so we could go outdoors and enjoy it!

We spend a lot of time doing "Guided Discovery" in kindergarten.  Guided discovery enables us to learn about all the new tools we will use in school, like scissors, markers, glue sticks, etc.  We learn the proper way to use each of these tools, how to take care of them, where they are stored and how to safely get the tools out and to put them away when we are finished with them.  We are learning how to work together in our new classroom community.
