'Twas the Week Before Winter Break

We had a wonderful visit from the Eagan High School choir.  They sang carols throughout the halls of Northview and we took some time out to listen to them.  Beautiful voices and we loved hearing them!

We played a new Math game, using dice.  We rolled the dice and had to add up the number of dots on the dice.  Then we colored in the lights on the winter tree.

We read a wonderful book called The Night Tree by Eve Bunting.  This story tells about a family's tradition of visiting Luke's Forest each winter and decorating a tree with treats for the animals.

After we read the story, we created a story structure map.  We are just beginning to learn about this and we did a great job on this attempt!

We made our own night trees, too.  It was a great opportunity for us to use our scissors, glue sticks and a new tool…cray pas!  We had fun and they turned out just gorgeous.

I hope you are all enjoying a safe and relaxing Winter Break.  See you next year…Happy New Year, 2016!

Today was our annual Kindergarten gingerbread house event.  We had such a great time!  Thanks so much to everyone who donated supplies, volunteered to set up and came to spend time with our kindergartners.  A great time was had by all.  Enjoy the photos!
