Solving Problems

Our Social Studies this week was titled "How Do I Get Along With Others?"  We have been learning how to get along and work together as part of our classroom community for 31 school days.  We sure have learned lots about each other and how to get along.  But there are still some times (not too many!) when we might get a little frustrated or angry in school.  Sometimes we get angry with ourselves or with other classmates.  Or sometimes we might feel like this at home.  One of the most important things we have learned so far in Kindergarten is that everyone has problems at one time or another.  When we have a problem, we need to SOLVE IT!!!

We made a list of ways that we can calm down if we are ever feeling angry or frustrated.  There are lots more ways, but these are just a few that we came up with.  We also learned a song this week that helps us to remember the four key steps for solving a problem...

"I stop, calm down."

"I talk and listen."

"I think of ways to solve the problem."

"I agree on a plan and try it!"

Be sure to ask your kindergartner about these important steps for solving problems.  They can use these steps at school and at home.  I know this will be helpful for solving problems!!
