All Stars of the Week

Congratulations to this week's P.E. All Stars of the Week…Madelyn and Olivia!

Thank you for being All Stars and great role models for your peers.  We are proud of you both!

Our Very Busy Week!

It was a very busy week in Kindergarten!

We launched out Author's Study of Eric Carle.  We explored lots of his books and wrote down the things we noticed about them.

We sure have learned lots about Eric Carle this week…we can't wait to keep learning about him!!

We also had lots of fun activities to keep us busy during indoor recess this week...

We celebrated a very special person's birthday…Mrs. Hanson.  She works so hard for all of us at Northview and we wanted to be sure she had a special birthday.  We even sang to her.

On Thursday we started our Yoga Calm Residency in Kindergarten.  We loved meeting Miss Sarah and learning how to do some things to help us calm our bodies at school and at home!

We finished our Snowy Day projects and brought them home.  We hope you liked them!

We went to the computer lab on Friday and created our own very hungry caterpillars using the program Tux Paint.  We even got to print them.  Aren't they cute?

We also learned about why we are off of school this Monday.  We learned about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Ms. Kieltyka read us a biography about him for interactive read aloud.  We talked lots about how Dr. King believed he could do anything.  He helped make changes in our country so that all people could be treated fairly and equally.  We wrote about his story in our Reader's Notebooks.

We are grateful for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and for his beliefs and hard work.  We hope you all have a Happy MLK Day!

Recess Fun in the Snow

On Friday we had lots of fun at recess playing in the snow.  Enjoy the photos of our fun time!

It is hard work playing in all that snow.

Roller Skating

On Friday, we were so excited because it was Cycle Day 2, which means we get to go to gym.  That also means it was our first class of ROLLER SKATING!!!  It was also our first gym class of the new year and we were so excited to see Mr. Nelson.  You see, he and his wife welcomed a new baby boy to their family on December 24.  His name is Henrick and we made him a huge card with our hand prints!  Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Nelson!

Then it was time to get ready for skating.  As you might imagine, this took a lot of listening and patience.  We did a really good job!

Mr. Nelson helped us find skates that fit us well and Mrs. Mueller got us our wrist guards.  Mrs. Radermacher helped get helmets for students that did not bring theirs from home and Mrs. Hannasch talked to us about cleaning the helmets after we used them.  We all worked together!

Mr. Nelson showed us how to get up, how to fall, and how to move forward on the skates.  Then we were off!  It was really fun!

We will have the opportunity to roller skate two more times and we are really looking forward to it!
