Visitors From Head Start

This past Wednesday, our class had the pleasure of hosting both the A.M. and P.M. classes from the Head Start program at Northview.  The purpose of this visit was for the Head Start students to visit a kindergarten classroom and see what it is like to be in kindergarten.  Many of these Head Start students will begin their kindergarten school year in September and they are curious about what it will be like.

The students from Head Start joined us on the rug.  We taught them how to sit "velcro pockets",   we read a fun story, did a coloring sheet and let the Head Start kids sit in our chairs at our tables and use the tools, and we showed them all around the classroom.  It was so fun for us to be the "big kids" and to show them what kindergarten is like. These kindergarten scientists sure learned lots about chicks over the past month.  We did lots of research, observing, recording our observations and writing about what we learned.  We are currently finishing up a nonfiction book on the things that we learned and will be publishing it, too!  Be sure to ask your kindergarten scientist what they learned about chicks!

   

   

   

   

   

   

Fun in Physical Education

By far, our most favorite specialist is Physical Education.  Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Mueller continue to find such fun, and meaningful activities for us to participate in.  We are learning how to work together and how important it is to have physical activity in our life to be healthy.  Enjoy some photos from a day in gym!

   

   

   

   

   

May Baskets

On May Day, we learned a little bit about the tradition of May Day and May baskets.  We took some time out of  our day to make a May Basket for someone special in our life.

   

   

   

Thank You, Northview PTO!

Shout out to the Northview PTO.  They did a fabulous job with our school carnival on April 26.  Hats off to the c0-chair people of our carnival, Traci Schmitt and Theresa Sjerven.  We appreciate your hard work to make this event so successful each year.  As a result, our classroom raffle basket sold the second most tickets for the raffle event.  Out class was rewarded with an ice cream treat, courtesy of the Northview PTO.  The kids loved it.  Thank you!
