On Thursday, we read the story Curious George Visits the Library. It was a good day to read this since this was our last day to visit the library to check out books as kindergartners! As usual, in this story, George is a good little monkey...but always very curious! George visits the library with his friend the Man with the Yellow Hat. As you might imagine, even though the man tells George to be a good little monkey, George still gets into some mischief.
At one point in the story, George crashes a cart into a shelf of encyclopedias. Now, this made our kindergartners very curious...what are encyclopedias??? Lucky for us, we were heading to the library and we knew just the person that would help us!
Mrs. Horton!!!
When we got to the Library, we told Mrs. Horton about the story we read. We also told her we did not know what encyclopedias were and that we were curious about them. Could she help us?? Of course she could! Mrs. Horton told us that the Northview library still has one set of encyclopedias and she showed us where they were!
Even with as busy as Mrs. Horton was, she took the time to explain to the class what encyclopedias were and that in the "old days", that is how people had to look up information on things. There was no Google or Siri and the kindergartners couldn't really imagine that. Then we got to find and check out a new book!
We can't thank Mrs. Horton enough. She always greets us with a smile and kind words. She takes the time out of her busy day to help us learn something new and she gets us excited about books and reading. Thank you, Mrs. Horton, for always being so kind and excited to see us. You rock!!
