Just before Winter Break, we read a wonderful story called Night Tree by Eve Bunting. In this story, a family has a yearly tradition of going out to the edge of town during the holiday season and decorating a tree with goodies for the wild animals to eat. They use popcorn, oranges, apples, bird seed, peanut butter and some other things. After the family decorates the tree, they sit on a blanket, sip hot cocoa and sing holiday songs. We did a project to go along with this story.
