Sledding Fun with Mr. Nelson

On Friday afternoon, we had the chance to go outdoors for P.E. with Mr. Nelson.  He took us sledding on the big hill behind Northview.  First, we all met in the gym.  Mr. Nelson introduced us to the P.E. All Stars from our class…Zooey and Adam.  Then he talked to us about the rules of sledding at Northview and how to be safe.

He showed us the way to hold the rope on the sled so it did not get caught underneath it.  He also had our All Stars model the way to sled safely.  We were good listeners!

Then it was time to hit the hill.  It was a beautiful day and we had lots of fun.  These little ones wore me out, going up and down the hill so many times!

Special thanks to Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Mueller and Mrs Grittner for helping us with our sledding activity and for letting Mrs. Kurt come out and sled, too!

Skol, Vikings!

As you might imagine, Vikings fever is at a peak at Northview Elementary.  Today was a School Spirit Day celebrating our very own Minnesota Vikings!

We made some pretty sweet Vikings hats to wear.  Many thanks to Mrs. Gillen, one of our first grade teachers, for sharing these with kindergarten!

Of course, we had to take one with our silly faces, too!

Near the end of the school day, the entire school met in the gym for an assembly.  We wore our hats.

Mr. Nelson did a trivia contest with us!

Then our very own Vikings Super Fan, Mr. Ball, led the whole school in the Skol Chant!

It was so loud.  And amazing!

Special thanks to Mr. Ball, Mrs. Dahl, Mrs. Gillen, Mrs. Grittner, Mrs. Laak, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Putz for planning and preparing such fun activities for us today.  It was so much fun.  We wish the Vikings all the best this weekend!!  Skol, Vikings!

Stages Theater Visit

We had the most amazing experience today.  Stages Theater from Hopkins, MN visited our classroom with their production of the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  It was an interactive play that retold this adorable story while getting our students involved.  The kindergartners LOVED it!  Many thanks to the wonderful Northview PTO for funding this great opportunity for us.  Please enjoy some photos.

We did a community writing project to thank the Northview PTO.

Then we were curious about something…we wondered how many things the hungry caterpillar actually ate in the book.  We decided to use tally marks to figure it out…Mrs. Grittner helped us, too!

That caterpillar was very hungry!
