These kindergarten scientists sure learned lots about chicks over the past month.  We did lots of research, observing, recording our observations and writing about what we learned.  We are currently finishing up a nonfiction book on the things that we learned and will be publishing it, too!  Be sure to ask your kindergarten scientist what they learned about chicks!

   

   

   

   

   

   

Fun in Physical Education

By far, our most favorite specialist is Physical Education.  Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Mueller continue to find such fun, and meaningful activities for us to participate in.  We are learning how to work together and how important it is to have physical activity in our life to be healthy.  Enjoy some photos from a day in gym!

   

   

   

   

   

May Baskets

On May Day, we learned a little bit about the tradition of May Day and May baskets.  We took some time out of  our day to make a May Basket for someone special in our life.

   

   

   

Thank You, Northview PTO!

Shout out to the Northview PTO.  They did a fabulous job with our school carnival on April 26.  Hats off to the c0-chair people of our carnival, Traci Schmitt and Theresa Sjerven.  We appreciate your hard work to make this event so successful each year.  As a result, our classroom raffle basket sold the second most tickets for the raffle event.  Out class was rewarded with an ice cream treat, courtesy of the Northview PTO.  The kids loved it.  Thank you!

   

   

   

More Fun With Our Chicks

The kindergartners are loving having these chicks in our classroom.  They would love it if we spent the whole day just observing and playing with them.  We try to get them out a few times each day.  Here are some photos of our day with them on Thursday.  This was their first time holding chicks...if they wanted to.  Enjoy!

   

   

   

   

The kids are loving playing with them.  They are also good helpers when it comes time to put them back in their box!

   

Library Check Out

On Thursday afternoon, we got to visit the library to learn a new book check out procedure.  Up until now, the kindergartners would get to pick a book from the ones laid out on the tables in the library.  Well, since we will soon be first graders, we are learning how to check out books like one of the big kids.

   

   

Mrs. Galland met with us in the library and explained the new procedure so we could learn how to choose books from the shelves.  Our friend Svaransh helped model what to do.

   

Then we got to choose our book from the shelves, check it out and find a cozy spot to do some quiet reading!
