Eric Carle - Unit of Study

We recently started a new unit of study on the author and illustrator Eric Carle.  We began this unit by putting out lots of Eric Carle books on the rug.  We talked about treating the books with respect.  Then we spent quite a bit of time just looking at, admiring and noticing things about his books.

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

When we finished looking at the books, we made a list of things we noticed about Eric Carle's books!

We are super excited to learn even more about this wonderful author/illustrator in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned to see what we learn!

Sorting Candy for Gingerbread Houses

Last Thursday, before we had our gingerbread house event, we decided to dig through the tubs of candy decorations and sort them.  At first, it did not look like we had too much stuff...

...however, we quickly learned that we had lots of things to sort.  We needed to decide how to sort it all!

When you sort things, you need to find out how things are similar and how they are different.  We quickly got to work!

   

   

After we finished sorting all our candy decorations, we realized we had plenty of things to use for decorating our gingerbread houses on Friday!  THANK YOU to all of the families that donated items to make this activity fun as well as successful.  We appreciate it!!!

This past Friday, these sweet kindergartners worked with Mrs. Town and Mrs. Tavernier to create this awesome "Thank You" for me.  It made me pause and remember why I do this job...because of YOUR children.

They are truly the best.  Thank you for sharing them with us at Northview Elementary!

Gingerbread Houses 2018

What an incredible afternoon we had celebrating with families at our annual Kindergarten Gingerbread House event.  Thank you to everyone that attended, donated candy decorations,  or volunteered to help in any way for this fun event.  We could not have done this without YOU!!  The kindergartners were so excited and did such a great job...my heart is full!  Enjoy some photos of this fun time in kindergarten!
