So Long, Stuart and Bob

Our classroom chicks, Stuart and Bob, left on Friday.  We loved having them and we could not believe how quickly they grow and change.  We learned so much about chicks and chickens and we will continue to research more about them in the next few days.

Our Biographies

You might remember a few weeks ago filling out a questionnaire from our fourth grade buddies about your kindergartner.  Well, after lots of interviewing, research, rough drafts and editing, the fourth graders have written AMAZING biographies about each of our kindergartners.  Not only did they write them, they also published them!  They surprised us this week by visiting us and presenting their finished books to each of us.  The fourth graders did an incredible job and we loved getting them.

This was especially fun for me as there are several of my former students now in Mrs. Holtz's class.  It was heartwarming to see how the fourth graders took this project so seriously and really put forth their best efforts.  They have been such great role models for my current students as well.  The biographies will be coming home in your child's Friday Folder this week.  What a great keepsake for our kindergartners!  Many thanks to Mrs. Tori Holtz and her fourth graders for their all star work on this project!. I hope you enjoy your child's books much as we all did!!

A Great Week

Did I mention we have some new class mates?  We have two baby chicks staying with our class until next Thursday.  For being so little, they sure make their presence known in our room.  We have been observing chick behavior and writing about it in our chick journals.

Following our program today, we had our families come to our classroom for a Writing Celebration.  We shared one example of community writing with our families and then we each shared a story we had written by ourselves.  Very cool to see how much we have learned this year.

To say that I am proud of these "show biz kids" does not seem like enough.  I am blown away at what amazing young people they have become.  These children will be world changers…they are the future. Our future!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your children with us at Northview.  Your children have, and will continue, to make a difference in the world.

They also just cannot resist taking a photo with their silly faces...

Field Day

Our Field Day was on Thursday May 19.  It was a perfect day to be outdoors and participate in some really fun track and field activities.  Special thanks to Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Radermacher, the fifth grade volunteers, parents and spectators who all assisted in us having a wonderful time.  Enjoy the photos!
