On Cycle Day 1, you will find our class in the Art room during our specialist time. Our Art teacher is Mrs. Katie Collins. She always has fun projects for us to work on. We enjoy attending art and look forward to lots more learning throughout the school year. Thank you, Mrs. Collins!

Observing and Writing About Leaves
Scientists don't just observe things, they also record their observations. On Friday, we used some of the artifacts we collected earlier in the week. We observed leaves and recorded our observations in our Trees and Weather Science Journals!
Nature Walk
We are busy learning about trees and leaves. We went out on a short nature walk this week. While we hiked, we observed lots of things just like scientists do. We also collected lots of artifacts. These artifacts will be put to good use in the upcoming week in our Research Station, which we will use during our Managed Independent Learning (MIL) time.

Thank You, Veterans!
Today we took time out of our busy daily schedule to acknowledge our country's veterans. We talked about how the men and women of the Armed Services have chosen to sacrifice time from their families to serve and protect us. They help to keep us safe and free. We talked about what it means to be grateful and decided it is important for us to say thank you. So on this Veteran's Day, Mrs. Kurt and her kindergartners wish to say "Thank You" to all veterans, and especially the veterans that are part of our Northview community. You are appreciated!

Drawing and Writing Stories
We have been working hard in our Drawing and Writing Journals in Writer's Workshop. We are focusing on our sketching, particularly drawing bodies and faces. We are learning that when we draw people, we want to use oval shapes and not sticks. We used a picture from the book My Big Brother on the document camera as our model and look what we accomplished!
Next we worked on sketching faces and adding details. Ms. Kieltyka was our model for this.

We are also learning about drawing people in action…walking, sitting, running, etc. We sketched Mrs. Kurt sitting, too.
So excited to move on in our writing journey!
